On Sunday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi arrived in Mumbai to participate in the India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, where the state government intends to present Odisha’s expanding port infrastructure and its potential to both national and international investors.
Promoted as the largest maritime gathering, the IMW 2025 is scheduled to take place from October 27 to 31. Majhi is set to attend the inaugural session on October 27 and will subsequently participate in the Odisha special session in the afternoon, which will concentrate on the state’s port-led investment prospects and export capabilities through its sea ports.
A delegation from the state government has already arrived in Mumbai to engage in the summit. “Odisha’s involvement signifies its ambition to emerge as a key center for port-led industrial advancement and coastal economic growth,” stated the chief minister’s office (CMO). The state delegation will emphasize investment prospects in port-related industries, logistics, fisheries, and maritime technology, reinforcing Odisha’s dedication to enhancing India’s maritime trade and export framework, it further noted.
During the Odisha session, the state will showcase its world-class port infrastructure, recent developments, and extensive maritime potential, encouraging both domestic and international investors to seek new collaborations.
This visit also represents a significant milestone as the BJP government marks 500 days under Majhi’s leadership, maintaining its strong emphasis on inclusive development, industrial progress, and job creation.
The government of Odisha is set to invite investors, industry stakeholders, and maritime professionals to discover the opportunities within the state and to participate in its mission to establish itself as a strategic hub for trade, innovation, and sustainable maritime development, as stated by the Chief Minister’s Office.
India Maritime Week stands as a prominent national and international event that unites government officials, industry specialists, and investors to engage in discussions regarding advancements and prospects in maritime infrastructure, port development, and the blue economy. The event will be officially opened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In addition to Majhi, the chief ministers of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa are expected to attend the inaugural session. Ministers from 11 different countries, along with their respective industry delegations, will take part in various sessions over the course of the five-day event.
