Centre approves 62 new PG medical seats across six Odisha colleges, boosting healthcare education and training for the 2025–26 academic year

Odisha’s Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, announced on Friday that the Centre has sanctioned 62 additional postgraduate (PG) seats across six state-operated medical colleges and hospitals for the academic year 2025-26.
Majhi described the approval of these extra PG seats as a “significant milestone” in enhancing the medical education and healthcare infrastructure in western Odisha.
In a correspondence addressed to Union Health Minister J P Nadda, Majhi expressed, “I wish to convey my sincere appreciation to you and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the generous approval of 62 PG seats in six government medical colleges and hospitals in Odisha for the 2025-26 academic year.”
He further stated, “The increase in PG seats will not only elevate the quality of medical education and training but will also enhance specialized healthcare services for the local population.”
Majhi emphasized that the state government is dedicated to adhering to the regulations and standards set forth by the National Medical Commission and is committed to providing all necessary assistance to transform these institutions into leading centers of medical excellence, as mentioned in his letter.
