On Tuesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated ‘Ama Shasana’ (our governance), a public service initiative aimed at engaging with citizens and gathering their feedback regarding the execution of various welfare schemes. The launch took place at Lok Seva Bhawan, attended by ministers and secretaries from different departments.

Additionally, a dedicated portal — www.amashasana.odisha.gov.in — was introduced to enable citizens to share their opinions on the implementation of various schemes.

Majhi stated that to connect with the populace, the State government has initiated ‘Ama Sashasana’. He emphasized that this initiative represents not merely a program but the government’s steadfast commitment to extend governance to every village.

To create a direct link between citizens and the government, the initiative includes a toll-free helpline number (14471) and a WhatsApp number (7400221903) for prompt communication and grievance resolution.

As part of this initiative, the Chief Minister and ministers will randomly contact citizens to gather their feedback, thereby enhancing various people-centric and welfare schemes. This approach will also assist the administration in making service delivery more effective and democratic. Immediately following the launch, Majhi reached out to several individuals, including a schoolgirl, to inquire about their views on different schemes.

During his conversation with the schoolgirl, Majhi asked if she or her friends had any grievances regarding their teachers and headmasters. “If you have any complaints, do not hesitate to contact me or the helpline number 1447. My ministers and I will certainly endeavor to address any issues the students may be experiencing,” Majhi assured the girl during their phone call.

The young girl informed the Chief Minister that she had received financial aid of Rs 5,000 through the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme, which was launched in the 2024-25 academic year to decrease the dropout rate among Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. This scheme provides a one-time incentive of Rs 5,000 to ST students who enroll in Classes 9 and 11.

In response to the Chief Minister’s inquiries, the girl stated that she utilized the funds to purchase books, pens, and other necessities, including a dress and a pair of shoes. Majhi also inquired whether anyone from the school had requested any money from her in exchange for the financial assistance.

Additionally, Majhi spoke with a male beneficiary of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana to ascertain whether he is receiving the benefits of the scheme and to discuss any challenges he is encountering at hospitals.

“We are dedicated to serving the people from the very first day of our government. Where governance and administration were once inaccessible to the public, the government is now reaching out to the people. The people’s government, by adhering to the opinions of the citizens, is ensuring the services, facilities, and rights of every individual,” stated the Chief Minister’s Office in a post on X.

The former BJD administration implemented the ‘Mo Sarkar’ (my government) initiative, wherein the chief minister and ministers actively sought feedback from villagers.
