Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday attended the district-level Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana (MKBY) programme at Shankarpur Sports Complex in Keonjhar, where 38 couples were married under the state-sponsored mass wedding initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Parida extended her blessings to the newlyweds and underscored the importance of social welfare programmes aimed at supporting economically vulnerable families.

The event was attended by Keonjhar MP Ananta Nayak, Telkoi MLA and District Planning Committee Chairman Dr Fakir Mohan Naik, Collector Vishal Singh, DFO Dhanaraj HD, Additional District Magistrates Mandardhar Mahalik and Dr Priyanka Marandi, along with other senior officials.

The DCM chaired a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate’s Darbar Hall to assess the implementation of ongoing development and welfare initiatives across the district.

The review focused extensively on infrastructure at Anganwadi centres, including the construction of dedicated buildings, availability of drinking water, electricity supply and sanitation facilities. Officials also discussed the implementation of food distribution through the Face Recognition System and measures being taken to monitor child nutrition.

Progress under the Subhadra Yojana, including field verification of applications, was also reviewed during the meeting. Discussions further covered schemes and services related to women and child welfare, including Mission Shakti, Samarthya, Shakti Sadan and Palana Crèche services. The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed awareness drives aimed at preventing child marriage in the district.

Emphasising the need for effective utilisation of District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds, Parida called for greater focus on women and child development projects, while stressing rehabilitation and educational support for children living in child care institutions.

The meeting also assessed infrastructure and beautification works at key tourist destinations in Keonjhar, including Maa Tarini Temple, Sanaghagara, Badaghagara and Khandadhar. Officials discussed the status of parking facilities, pathways, sanitation and other visitor amenities at these sites.

Parida directed district officials to ensure timely completion of all ongoing projects and maintain regular monitoring to improve delivery of welfare services and public infrastructure across the district.
