Two of the 10 Aspirational Districts in Odisha which have been listed as ‘Best Performing Districts in the country’ will figure during a review deliberation in New Delhi on November 6 which will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two districts are Rayagada and Nuapada, which have been listed in the top twenty districts across the country.The Prime Minister will review PRAGATI on November 6 where Aspirational Districts have been included in the agenda.
The Prime Minister takes regular review through ICT-based, Multi-Modal Platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation(PRAGATI) with the Chief Secretaries of the states. At this meeting, 20 districts, which have recorded best performance and 10 districts, which have shown low progress will be discussed.
While Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh has topped the list, Nuapada ranks 15th and Rayagada follows it at 16th among the top twenty districts. The 10 districts where progress has been poor include Malkangiri and Nabarangpur.
According to NITI Aayog, the 10 districts with relatively low progress, have not been able to secure any rank for getting an additional allocation. General discussions on making development a mass movement is expected to be held for all Aspirational Districts.
While Nuapada secured 43.64 percentage in general improvement, in health care and nutrition it scored 82.40 percent. In elementary schools complying with the Right To Education (RTE) norm criteria, the district achieved 88.39 percent.
In access to all-weather roads under PMGSY parameter the district has achieved 94.9 percent and a cumulative kilometer of all-weather road work completed is 88.35 percent.
Additional Secretary Rank officer Sundeep Kumar Nayak, who is the central Prabhari Officer for Nuapada district is regularly moving in the district while State Nodal Officer Saswat Mishra is taking up the issues with the State Government. Earlier, District Collector Poma Tudu and present District Collector Madhusmita Sahoo was lauded for their sincere approach as a result of which the the district showed significant results.
Rayagada registered 41.22 overall scores and while the percentage of a habitation with access to all-weather roads under PMGSY was 91.33. The percentage of elementary schools complying with RTE is 98.22.
Central Prabhari Officer Union Additional Secretary Land Resources and State Nodal Officer Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development & Mission Shakti Anu Garg, are continuously visiting the backward district to monitor the progress. The District Collector Pramod Kumar Behera is taking a lot of personal interest to implement the flagship programs of both State and Union governments.
