A book that honors the rich culinary heritage of the state, titled ‘Odia Byanjana’, was launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during the closing ceremony of Odia Pakhya 2026 here on Tuesday.

This book, which features classic Odia recipes and is authored by the esteemed hotelier Debasish Patnaik, serves as a compilation of traditional recipes that showcase the depth, diversity, and philosophy of Odia cuisine, encompassing everything from daily home-cooked meals to festive treats and desserts.

Each recipe in the book is presented with contextual information, providing readers with insights into the ingredients, cooking methods, and occasions linked to each dish.

Majhi praised Patnaik for his dedication and initiative, stressing that food transcends mere sustenance and is a fundamental expression of identity, tradition, and community. The chief minister pointed out that Odia cuisine, characterized by its subtle flavors, balanced nutrition, and profound spiritual ties, merits greater acknowledgment on both national and international stages.

He also emphasized that such initiatives are crucial in reinforcing the state’s cultural narrative and motivating younger generations to reconnect with their heritage.
